by Amelia Crawford

HAMILTON COUNTY, TENN. — A Hamilton County contractor, Ezra Crowder, was arrested on Tuesday after failing to complete a job he was paid for.

According to an arrest report, Hamilton County deputies responded to a complaint from a homeowner on March 1st. The homeowner explained that in 2023, he hired Crowder to extend his concrete driveway, paying him $2,500 via check. The check was cashed by Crowder the same day. However, after digging three holes and placing caution tape around them, Crowder left the residence and never returned to complete the work.

The homeowner attempted to contact Crowder multiple times but received no response. In an effort to resolve the issue, the homeowner sent a written refund request to Crowder’s last known address, which was confirmed by a certified mail receipt. The homeowner also forwarded a copy of the request to the consumer protection division of the Attorney General’s Office, which issued a signed confirmation letter.

As a result, a warrant was issued for Crowder’s arrest. He now faces charges of home improvement contractor violation for failing to deliver the contracted services.
