In a significant breakthrough, the Urali Kanchan police arrested three men linked to a high-profile robbery of 260 mobile phones from two shops on June 19, amounting to a total theft of Rs74.25 lakh. The accused were nabbed last week in Nuh district, Haryana, after an intensive manhunt.
The arrested individuals have been identified as Hamid Karim (39), Hafiz Sharif (35), and Inamuddin Khan (42), all residents of Nuh district. A police team, led by Senior Inspector Shankar Patil, tracked them down after tracing their changing locations across states.
According to Inspector Patil, the gang also looted smartwatches, a tablet, and cash during the break-in. The suspects, who had no prior criminal record in Maharashtra, had previously committed a similar robbery in Latur district.
“During sustained interrogation, the trio disclosed the name of their gang’s kingpin and confirmed that all stolen goods are currently with him,” Patil revealed.
While three culprits are now in custody, four others, including the mastermind, remain absconding. Police have intensified efforts to locate and apprehend them soon.
The Urali Kanchan robbery had shocked the local community due to the scale and precision of the theft. Thanks to swift action by the Maharashtra Police, a major portion of the gang has been identified and captured.
