HAMBLEN COUNTY, Tenn. — A 21-year-old man is accused of fatally stabbing his stepfather, Mark Waller, 57, on Wednesday night in north Hamblen County.

The Hamblen County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene at 8:57 p.m. and found Waller deceased from a stabbing. Authorities say that Waller’s stepson, Tristan Doan, ran from the scene immediately following the attack.

Hamblen County deputies, along with Morristown police, coordinated a search and found Doan early Thursday morning. He was arrested and charged with first-degree murder. Doan is currently being held without bond in the Hamblen County Jail.

“We want to express our gratitude to everyone involved in this case, especially to the MPD,” said Hamblen County Sheriff Chad Mullins. “Swift actions and teamwork were instrumental in apprehending the suspect.”

If anyone has information about the case, they are asked to contact Det. Sgt. Joscelyne Sanner at 423-621-9089.
