Police have arrested three burglars and one receiver of stolen goods in connection with a recent break-in at a showroom in Beharbari, following a swift and focused investigation.
The case was reported by Md. Asif, a resident of Paltan Bazar, who filed an FIR at Basistha Police Station on April 16 at 7 PM. According to the report, unknown individuals broke multiple locks at his showroom and stole household items, including electric tools and fittings. The incident was also reported through the emergency helpline 112.
Authorities registered a case and launched an investigation, analyzing CCTV footage from the crime scene. Within days, police tracked down and arrested three suspects from the Sijubari area under Hatigaon Police Station.
The accused were identified as:
Habijur Ali (18)
Suksan Ali (20)
Sanidul Ali (20)
During the arrest, police recovered housebreaking tools, including an iron rod, ring wrench, lug wrench, and metal bending bar.
Upon interrogation, the trio confessed to selling the stolen items at a dump in Dot Bazar, Hatigaon. A subsequent police operation led to the recovery of stolen goods, including:
Grinder machines
Brass items
Water taps
15 kg of electric and copper wires
Pulsar 125cc motorcycle
Police also arrested Rafique Ali (35), the alleged receiver of the stolen items. He hails from Sontoli, Aitapara, and had been staying temporarily at Dot Bazar, Khanka, under Hatigaon Police Station jurisdiction.
Officials stated that investigations are ongoing to uncover are ongoing to uncover any additional thefts linked to the group and to identify any other possible accomplices.
