In a significant operation against drug trafficking, Laharighat Police in Assam arrested Habibur Rahman after seizing 1.23 grams of suspected heroin from his possession. The arrest took place in Shantipur, Morigaon, following a tip-off that led police to the location.
This raid is part of ongoing efforts by the authorities to curb the growing illegal drug trade in the region. Upon acting on the received information, the police quickly surrounded the area and apprehended Rahman along with the contraband.
Legal proceedings have been initiated against the arrested individual, with further investigations underway to explore potential connections to larger drug networks. Police have emphasized that their operations are intensifying to dismantle any such syndicates operating in the region.
Earlier in the week, another anti-drug operation was executed at the Naba Betoni Bridge under Naojan Out Post, Sarupathar PS, where Raja Ali, a 26-year-old drug peddler, was arrested with 105.73 grams of heroin. The operation was led by Golaghat’s Additional SP (Crime), accompanied by several police teams. Authorities are also working on breaking up larger criminal drug networks across the area.
