Gwinnett Father Speaks Out After Teacher Arrested for Inappropriate Behavior

Brad Miller urges other parents to come forward after his daughter’s teacher, Brian Hill, was arrested for misconduct

A Gwinnett County father is bravely speaking out after his daughter’s kindergarten teacher, Brian Hill, was arrested for allegedly inappropriately touching students in his class. Brad Miller, deeply shaken by the incident, feels betrayed by both the teacher and the school administration, which he believes initially downplayed the severity of the situation.

Hill, 29, was arrested on May 5 and faces charges of first-degree cruelty to children and simple battery. According to Miller’s attorney, Mitch Skandalakis, the behavior of Hill—who allegedly engaged in inappropriate actions with Miller’s daughter and other female students since the start of the school year—was disturbing. These actions reportedly included stroking Miller’s daughter’s hair and drawing her into an embrace, which Skandalakis called “bizarre.”

Miller said that the school first notified parents about Hill’s resignation in a March 31 email titled “Staffing Update,” which simply stated that Hill had resigned and was being replaced. However, Miller was later contacted by the school principal, who allegedly minimized the situation by telling him that his daughter had only been “patted on the head.”

The situation escalated when police showed Miller surveillance footage of Hill allegedly fondling his daughter for over five minutes. “He goes, grabs a chair, pulls it right up next to my daughter, and proceeds to fondle her for over 5 minutes,” Miller said. “This should not be downplayed. An adult male touching kindergarten kids… it shattered all my trust in the system.”

Miller is now urging other parents who may suspect their children were victims of Hill’s inappropriate behavior to come forward. His attorney has provided an email address for those wishing to report concerns. “The damage has been done, and there’s a fork in the road,” Miller said. “Either you protect kids, or you protect your image, and it feels like they took the wrong path.”

In response to the incident, Gwinnett County Public Schools issued a statement saying Hill was removed from the classroom immediately and did not return to the school once the allegations were discovered. The district also confirmed that police were notified promptly, but declined to provide further details, citing the ongoing investigation.
