In a shocking revelation, Guwahati has become the latest city to be targeted by a travel package scam, with fraudulent activities involving an agency named “Discovery” that operated in the Paltan Bazar locality near the Nepali Mandir. The agency promised attractive deals for flight tickets and travel packages, but it left victims stranded without any of the promised services after they reached their destinations.
The fraudulent agency lured customers with enticing travel offers, assuring them of flight tickets, pre-arranged transportation, and hotel accommodations at popular destinations. Upon arrival at their destinations, however, travelers found that the agency had severed all contact, leaving them stranded and without assistance.
Many victims were promised that drivers would be waiting to pick them up from the airport, and hotels were pre-booked for their stay. Instead, the fraudsters disappeared, and customers were left to fend for themselves with no help or services.
The Fatasil police have arrested Anshuman Paul, a key individual involved in running the fraudulent travel agency. As investigations unfold, police suspect that several other individuals are part of the operation and are continuing efforts to identify and arrest them.
Police urge anyone who has fallen victim to the scam to come forward and report their experiences, as further victims may still be out there. The police are working to track down additional members of the scam network, which may have been operating under various aliases.
