Guwahati police successfully conducted raids across multiple areas, leading to the arrest of several miscreants involved in drug peddling and illegal gambling. A team from Noonmati Police Station arrested a drug dealer, identified as Babul Choudhury, alias Jilapi (21), with 10 vials of heroin weighing 13.20 grams at the Noonmati Forest Gate.
In a separate operation, acting on intelligence inputs, the Pan Bazar Police Station raided a hideout at Railway Gate No. 2, apprehending Munna Ali, alias Munna Rahman (22), and seizing 8 vials of heroin weighing 10.58 grams from him.
Additionally, a team from Dispur Police Station arrested Ganesh Vishwakarma (of Dhemaji) for operating an illegal gambling business known as ‘teer gambling’ at Japorigog. Police recovered gambling materials, including four notebooks, nine number slips, Rs 10,150 in cash, a mobile phone, and a UPI scanner from his possession.
These successful arrests highlight the Guwahati Police’s ongoing efforts to combat illegal drug trade and gambling activities in the city.
