The Dispur Police arrested Arindam Goswami after a tragic hit-and-run claimed the life of Anurag Kashyap (19) on Jayanagar Main Road early Sunday morning.
Incident Details
Between 3:20 and 3:45 am, Anurag was crossing the road when he was allegedly struck by a speeding Hyundai i20 N Line driven by a drunk driver. He was rushed to a private hospital by his friend and eyewitness Suvagya Das but succumbed to injuries around 11:30 am.
Arrest and Investigation
CCTV footage helped police trace the accused, Arindam Goswami of Borbari, who reportedly had a history of causing similar accidents. A case has been registered, and the investigation is ongoing to determine all factors contributing to the accident.
Police urged citizens to exercise road safety and avoid reckless or intoxicated driving.
