In a major crackdown against thefts, the Gurugram police arrested three accused individuals on Wednesday, according to police officials. The arrests took place in separate cases of bike theft across the city.
The arrested individuals were identified as Akash, a resident of Kothi Muradganj village, Auraiya (Uttar Pradesh), Shubham Pandey, a resident of Bharma Bansi village, Siddharth Nagar (Uttar Pradesh), and Harsh alias KD, a resident of Khandewla, Gurugram.
The Gurugram Sector-10 Crime Branch arrested Akash from the Sector-17A market in Gurugram in connection with a bike theft case registered under the Sector-29 police station. In another case, the Sector-39 Crime Branch team arrested Shubham Pandey and Harsh near IFFCO Chowk in Gurugram for a bike theft case from Sector-50 police station.
During questioning, the accused admitted to their involvement in the bike thefts. Akash also revealed his involvement in another theft incident in Gurugram. The police discovered that the three accused had criminal records. Akash was found to be involved in four cases of robbery, snatching, and theft in Gurugram, while Shubham Pandey had three cases of theft against him, and Harsh had four cases registered for theft and snatching.
As a result of the investigation, the police team recovered three stolen bikes from the possession of the accused. The authorities have confirmed that the investigation is still ongoing, with further action expected.
In a related development, the Gurugram Crime Branch recently arrested three other individuals — Amit Bhati alias Bobby, Lalit, and Karan, all residents of Bandhwari village — for allegedly threatening victims for extortion. They were arrested near Red Light T-Point on the Gurugram-Faridabad Road on Monday.
