The Gurugram police have arrested four individuals for allegedly murdering a 21-year-old man, Pranav Kumar, and attempting to destroy evidence to cover up the crime. The incident occurred on the night of February 16-17, when police received information about a body found in a secluded area near Begumpur Khatola village. Authorities, including forensic teams, fingerprint experts, and a dog squad, rushed to the scene for investigation. The body was sent to the mortuary for identification.
After reviewing CCTV footage and gathering additional evidence, the deceased was identified as Pranav Kumar, a 21-year-old from Madhubani, Bihar. He had been working at a company in Gurugram and was staying with two roommates in a rented accommodation.
On February 19, Pranav’s father filed a complaint informing the police that his son had recently mentioned a dispute with his roommates regarding shared expenses. On the same day, police informed him about the discovery of his son’s body. Investigations later revealed that Pranav had been murdered by his roommates and their landlord.
The police registered a case under the relevant sections at Badshahpur police station and began a detailed investigation. On Saturday, the Sector-40 Crime Branch arrested four suspects, identified as Rohit (the landlord), Satish, Vijay Kumar, and Brijesh Kumar, all residents of Uttar Pradesh. They were apprehended on Bahrampur Road.
According to police spokesperson Sandeep Kumar, Rohit, the landlord, discovered Pranav’s body in a locked room, initially thinking Pranav had passed out from alcohol consumption. Upon further examination, he realized that Pranav was dead. Fearing police involvement, Rohit, along with the other three suspects, transported the body in a car and disposed of it in a deserted location, attempting to destroy the evidence.
The police are continuing their investigation as they work to uncover more details of the crime.
