The Gurugram Cyber Police have arrested three men allegedly working with a Chinese fraud syndicate, officials said on Wednesday. During the raid, police recovered a 20-port physical SIM box and a laptop, exposing a sophisticated setup used to target Indian citizens.
The accused have been identified as Karma from Nagaland, along with Lobsang Tsultim and Ngawang Gyaltsen from Himachal Pradesh. According to investigators, the trio used advanced SIM box technology to route fraudulent calls across India.
Their arrest comes after the earlier detention of another suspect connected to the same network, indicating a wider international cyber fraud operation.
Police revealed that the accused installed virtual SIM boxes under the direction of a Chinese national identified as Tsega. The group allegedly executed scams disguised as online gaming and investment opportunities to lure victims.
Investigators said the suspects were able to communicate with Tsega through WeChat, a platform banned in India, using their knowledge of Chinese and Taiwanese languages to coordinate the fraud.
Authorities believe the SIM box setup allowed the syndicate to mask international calls as local Indian numbers, making it harder for victims and enforcement agencies to trace the origin of the scam.
Further investigation is underway to identify additional links in the cross-border cyber fraud network.
