City police in Kolhapur have successfully arrested Gurudev Pandurang Sakat, a 42-year-old man, after seizing 3.22 kilograms of ganja he was attempting to sell. The seized marijuana, valued at approximately Rs1 lakh, was recovered when police intercepted Sakat, who was en route to Ichalkaranji.
A resident of Hatkanangle tehsil in Kolhapur district, Sakat has a history of narcotics-related offenses and was previously involved in selling ganja. Despite facing legal action for similar crimes, he had resumed his illegal activities. The police managed to track him down after conducting a chase on Friday and arrested him near Ichalkaranji.
Sakat now faces charges under the Narcotics and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. The police have registered a case at Shivaji Nagar Police Station and are conducting further investigations to trace the source of the ganja and identify the customers connected to this drug network.
