In a significant crackdown on narcotics trafficking, Jammu and Kashmir Police arrested a brother-sister duo—Gurjeet Singh and Navneet Kour—at a check post in Balol, Jammu, and seized 550 grams of heroin valued at approximately Rs70 lakh.
The accused, residents of Tanda village in RS Pura sector, were intercepted during a routine check by Miran Sahib Police late Wednesday night. According to a police spokesperson, the heroin was recovered from the duo’s scooty, which was also seized as part of the operation.
A case has been registered under FIR No. 91/2025 at Miran Sahib Police Station under Sections 8, 21, 22, 29, and 60 of the NDPS Act.
“The suspects are being interrogated and are expected to provide critical leads into the larger drug supply chain and distribution network,” said the spokesperson.
Interestingly, the duo’s mother, Rajinder Kour, was earlier arrested in June this year by Punjab Police in a separate drug peddling case filed at Shiata Police Station, Amritsar.
A financial investigation has also been launched to trace the illegal proceeds and assets acquired through the narcotics trade.
