A significant fraud was uncovered after a complaint was filed at the Badambadi Police Station, leading to the registration of case no. 127 of 2025. The accused, Gundicha Dalai, allegedly duped a security guard by promising him a position as a Home Guard.

Dalai, posing as an Inspector of Police from the Rural S.P office in Cuttack, approached the complainant and convinced him of his credentials by showing a fake ID card and donning a police uniform. He demanded Rs1,50,000 for securing the job, initially receiving Rs10,000 from the victim. However, the complainant soon realized he had been deceived and reported the matter to the police.

In response, the police acted swiftly and apprehended Dalai. During the arrest, they seized a large amount of evidence, including a laptop, five mobile phones, multiple fake identity cards, a police uniform, rubber stamps, chequebooks, and Rs4 lakh that was frozen in his bank accounts. Further investigations are ongoing to identify additional victims and collect further evidence against him.

The Deputy Commissioner of Police has issued a strong warning to job aspirants, urging them to be vigilant and avoid engaging with fraudsters. The public has been advised to report any suspicious activities related to job offers to prevent falling victim to such scams. Dalai is expected to be presented in court shortly.
