In a major breakthrough against interstate crime, the Dharwad Suburban Police have arrested two habitual offenders involved in multiple thefts across different regions.
The arrested individuals include Guna Meenakshi Sakthi (37) from Tiruchirapalli, Tamil Nadu, known for stealing bags at bus stands, and Kamepalli Srinivas (46) from Andhra Pradesh’s Godavari district, a repeat offender involved in house thefts.
Based on specific leads, police teams tracked and apprehended both suspects, uncovering their involvement in two theft cases under the Dharwad Suburban Police Station and one case under Gokul Road Police Station.
During the investigation, officers recovered Rs9.25 lakh worth of stolen jewellery, including 100 grams of gold and 750 grams of silver ornaments. The recovered items have been seized as evidence.
The accused were produced before the court and subsequently remanded to judicial custody.
Officials stated that the arrests highlight the Dharwad police’s coordinated efforts to combat interstate theft networks and ensure the recovery of stolen property.
