Guliano Thomson Charged for Impersonating ICE Agent in Robbery

Houston man posed as ICE agent, stole cash and ID in scam

HOUSTON, TX — A Houston man with a lengthy criminal record has been charged with two felonies after allegedly posing as an ICE agent while robbing another man in west Houston, according to Harris County court records.

Guliano Thomson, 37, was charged on Wednesday with impersonating a public servant and robbery after an incident on Monday morning in the 6400 block of Skyline.

Police say Thomson used his car to block another driver, then approached him and falsely identified himself as an Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officer. He allegedly showed a badge, took $1,800 in cash, and a Guatemalan ID from the victim.

Thomson was arrested during a traffic stop on Tuesday. Court documents say he “caused the man to submit to his pretended official authority”, making the victim believe he was dealing with a legitimate federal agent.

This is not Thomson’s first brush with the law. In 2019, he and his brother were charged with arson and endangering a child after lighting a woman’s car on fire with a 3-year-old inside, part of a scam to sell unnecessary car repairs. He pleaded guilty in 2022 and was sentenced to 10 years in state prison, though he was released on parole in July 2024 after receiving credit for time served.

Thomson, who has also used the alias Robert Yonko, has prior arrests for credit card abuse, fake license plates, and multiple theft charges dating back to 2004.

He is currently held at Harris County Jail on $100,000 bond, with a court appearance scheduled for Friday morning.

Officials warn of growing impersonation scams involving fake ICE agents, which have increased amid heightened immigration enforcement in recent years.
