Two men have been arrested in Gujarat for allegedly breaking into six shops at a commercial complex in Flower Bazaar and stealing cash.
Rameshkumar Jain, 55, a resident of Flower Bazaar and owner of a cosmetics shop on Reddy Ram Street, reported that on January 25 he had locked his shop in the afternoon and returned the next morning to find the shutter lock broken and Rs1.30 lakh missing from his cash box. He also discovered that the lock of a neighboring shop, owned by Pavar Lal, had been broken, with Rs65,000 stolen. Locks of four additional shops in the complex were also tampered with, though no cash or goods were reported missing.
Based on Jain’s complaint at the Flower Bazaar Police Station Crime Wing, authorities examined the crime scene and CCTV footage, identifying two suspects hiding in Rajasthan and Gujarat.
With cooperation from Gujarat police, Eswar (42) and Kanpath Singh (38), residents of Jalore district, Rajasthan, were arrested in Surat on February 27. Both were produced before the Surat Judicial Magistrate Court on February 28 and later brought to Chennai.
Police records reveal that Eswar has a pending robbery case, while Kanpath Singh has one robbery and one theft case registered in Bengaluru City. Both accused were remanded to judicial custody at Central Prison, Puzhal.
