MADISON COUNTY, Ala. (WHNT) — Gregory Clay Kirk, a pool installation contractor previously arrested for theft by deception, has been indicted in Madison County this week.

Kirk was first arrested in December after authorities in Madison County charged him with theft by deception. Following a recent grand jury hearing, he was arrested again on Thursday and booked into the Madison County Jail, where his bond is set at $475,000.

On Friday, Attorney General Steve Marshall announced the indictment of Kirk on multiple charges, including:

  • 14 counts of first-degree theft of property
  • 1 count of second-degree theft of property
  • 1 count of criminal possession of a forged instrument in the second degree
  • 1 count of forgery in the second degree
  • 1 count of fraudulent use of a credit card

The alleged crimes were investigated by the Huntsville Police Department, the Madison Police Department, and the Attorney General’s Consumer Interest Division. Additionally, Kirk is facing prosecution in Franklin County, where he was indicted in February for first-degree theft of property.

Victims of Kirk’s scheme have come forward, detailing how he took their deposits for pool installations but failed to complete the work. Jerry and Wendy Scarbrough reported that Kirk took their money, dug a hole for the pool, and never returned to finish the job. Since the initial report aired, many more individuals have come forward with similar allegations against Kirk.

As of 3:45 p.m. Friday, Kirk remained in the Madison County Jail.
