Gregory Curcio Charged for Doxxing Federal ICE Attorney

Santa Monica man accused of swatting call and harassment

A 68-year-old Santa Monica man has been arrested for allegedly doxxing and encouraging a swatting attack on a U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) attorney, the U.S. Department of Justice announced Tuesday.

Gregory John Curcio was taken into custody on September 22 after he allegedly posted the victim’s home address on Facebook and labeled her as an “ICE agent,” calling on others to “swat” her at that location.

Swatting is a form of targeted harassment where someone makes a false emergency call to provoke an armed police response to a victim’s home. It has increasingly become a dangerous tactic used to intimidate or retaliate against individuals.

Federal prosecutors stated that Curcio also posted the attorney’s personal information on another social media account under his control. The victim, a federal attorney, had never met Curcio but said he previously lived in the same apartment complex as her mother and had harassed her family for years.

According to court documents, the harassment and false accusations began as early as January 2024 and escalated to the online threats and doxxing incident.

Under federal law, it is illegal to publicly share certain personal information about covered individuals, including federal employees, with malicious intent.

“Contrary to what some misguided individuals think, doxxing federal agents and employees is not a harmless crime,” said Acting U.S. Attorney Bill Essayli. “It endangers the agent’s personal safety and that of their family. It’s also a federal crime.”

If convicted, Curcio could face up to five years in federal prison.
