A South Abington Township man, Grant Callender, 59, is facing charges of attempted homicide and other offenses after he allegedly shot his wife multiple times during a domestic altercation on Tuesday night. The incident occurred at their home near Gravel Pond Road and Northern Spy Road in Lackawanna County.

According to Lackawanna County District Attorney Brian Gallagher, Callender shot his wife three times while their child was inside the home. Following the shooting, he barricaded himself in the house, leading to a standoff with local, county, and state law enforcement. Authorities responded swiftly to the scene.

At around 2:30 a.m., Callender surrendered peacefully to the police. He was uninjured and was subsequently charged with attempted homicide, aggravated assault, child endangerment, and related offenses. He remains in custody at the Lackawanna County Prison.

The victim is currently in critical but stable condition, and the investigation is ongoing. There is no further threat to the public, authorities confirmed.
