GRAND ISLAND, Neb. (KSNB) – A Grand Island police officer, Jordyn Lukasiewicz, was arrested by the Nebraska State Patrol last weekend on suspicion of driving under the influence.
Hall County Jail records show that Lukasiewicz was booked early on Sunday morning. A spokesperson for the Grand Island Police Department confirmed that Lukasiewicz is a patrol officer within the force. According to the jail records, the arrest occurred near an intersection in central Grand Island.
In response to the incident, Police Chief Kevin Denney issued a statement confirming that the Nebraska State Patrol is handling the DUI investigation. Denney added that Lukasiewicz is currently on administrative leave pending an internal investigation by the Grand Island Police Department.
“The police department takes these allegations seriously, and it is an unfortunate situation,” Denney stated. “I remind you, the officer, like everyone else, is entitled to their rights under the law.”
As of Wednesday afternoon, no formal charges have been filed against Lukasiewicz in the state courts database.
