In a shocking incident in Rajasthan’s Rajsamand district, a 22-year-old pregnant woman and her two-year-old son were allegedly murdered, with police arresting the prime suspect following an investigation.
The victim, Priyanka Rawat (22), who was nine months pregnant, and her son Aryan (2) had been missing since February 11. A missing persons complaint was registered at Bhim police station the following day after family members were unable to trace them.
During the probe, police examined Priyanka’s call detail records, which led them to Govind Singh, a driver known to the victim. He was detained for questioning and later allegedly confessed to the crime.
According to investigators, Singh reportedly strangled Priyanka, tied stones to her body, and dumped it in Bhim ka Talab pond. He later allegedly killed the toddler and disposed of the child’s body in a forested area near Darra, about 20 km from Bhim.
A joint team of local police and SDRF recovered Priyanka’s body from the pond after a search operation lasting nearly an hour. Efforts are continuing to locate Aryan’s body with assistance from local villagers.
Rajsamand SP Mamta Gupta stated that preliminary findings indicate death by strangulation. The accused remains in police custody as further investigation continues.
