Gordon County Firefighter Hunter Wilson Arrested for Theft During Fire Response

Wilson, 26, arrested and fired for theft and violating public trust

by Sophia Bennett

A Gordon County firefighter, Hunter Wilson, 26, was arrested and fired this week after allegedly stealing property during an active fire response.

According to Gordon County Fire Rescue Chief Heath Derryberry, Wilson’s termination was a result of his “conduct unbecoming of a county employee,” a violation of the “oath of office,” and “theft.” Chief Derryberry further emphasized that Wilson’s actions violated department policies and ethical standards, severely damaging the public trust in both the fire department and the community they serve.

Wilson now faces a charge of felony financial transaction card fraud as a result of the theft. The details surrounding the stolen property remain under investigation.
