Rajasthan Police have arrested Gordhanram (32), a notorious drug smuggler from Bhurtiya village in Barmer district, who had been evading arrest for four years and was carrying a bounty of Rs1 lakh.
The arrest, made in Phalsund, Jaisalmer district, is part of a major crackdown on narcotics operations in western Rajasthan, according to an official statement released Thursday.
Inspector General of Police, Vikas Kumar (Jodhpur Range), confirmed the arrest, calling it “one of our most dangerous and audacious operations yet.” Kumar added, “The capture of Gordhanram is a significant blow to the drug syndicate active across state lines.”
Gordhanram was wanted in multiple inter-state cases, including those filed in Madhya Pradesh and Gujarat, with over a dozen criminal charges against him. His criminal record includes drug trafficking, attempted murder, assault, vehicle theft, arson, and Arms Act violations.
Rajasthan Police Headquarters had earlier declared him a wanted fugitive, placing a ₹1 lakh reward for information leading to his arrest. His capture marks a major win in the state’s ongoing efforts to dismantle organized narcotics networks.
