In a major crackdown, Gorchuk Police Station arrested four individuals linked to a significant theft case. The accused—Ananda Barma (45) from Ulubari, Kartick Sharma (21) of Kumarpara, Madhab Das (30) from Bijaynagar in Palasbari, and Jakir Hussain (29) from Katahbari/Barpeta—were caught during an operation that recovered two pairs of gold-like bangles and a large amount of stolen foreign currency. Legal proceedings are underway with further investigation continuing.
Separately, Fatasil Ambari Police Station busted a mobile snatching gang connected to a recent scooter theft at Barshapara. The prime suspects, Raju Ali alias Arju (20) and Sanju Ali (19), were arrested while using the stolen scooter (AS01DF1701) to commit mobile snatching.
Following leads, three more gang members—Rubul Ali (19), Raju Mallik (21), and Surajit Choudhary (20)—were also apprehended. Police arrested Saijuddin Ali (21), who was receiving stolen items, along with resellers Saah Alam (22) and Asraf Ali (22). The operation recovered one stolen scooter and twelve stolen mobile phones from popular brands including Oppo, Redmi, Realme, Vivo, Samsung, iQOO, and Infinix. Legal action is ongoing.
