On Monday, Gorakhpur Police arrested two men, Amardeep Sharma and Joginder Sharma, in connection with the brutal murder of Satyam (24) in Gola area of Gorakhpur. The police also recovered the knife and shovel used in the crime.
The murder took place on the night of Friday, with reports indicating that Satyam was stabbed to death. His body was then dragged approximately 400 meters before being dumped in a wheat field, where it was discovered the next morning, Saturday.
SP (South), Jitendra Kumar, confirmed the arrest of the two suspects, adding that they were wanted in a case filed under multiple IPC sections and provisions of the SC/ST Act. After the recovery of the weapons, additional charges under the Arms Act were also added.
The investigation revealed that the murder was motivated by an old rivalry, with the accused, along with their associates Brijmohan Sharma and Hemant alias Monu Sharma, being involved in the crime. Both Amardeep Sharma and Joginder Sharma have a history of criminal activities, with Amardeep having cases related to rioting and assault, while Joginder faces multiple charges including assault, intimidation, and trespassing.
The recovered weapons have been sent for forensic examination as further investigations are ongoing.
