Kerrville, Texas – Murder Suspect Arrested Following Investigation
On April 28, 2025, Gonzalo Mendoza-Gonzalez, 22, was arrested in Kerrville, Texas, in connection with a homicide in Austin. The arrest came after deputies from the Kerr County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a vehicle blocking the road on Sutherland Lane. Upon arriving at the scene, they discovered an abandoned Chevrolet Silverado pickup.
While investigating, deputies were alerted to a Mini-Mart on Highway 27, where they found Mendoza-Gonzalez and a female companion knocking on windows. Both individuals denied having any connection to the vehicle. They were then given a courtesy ride to a local hotel.
Later, the Kerr County Sheriff’s Office was informed by the Austin Police Department that the truck had been linked to a homicide on April 27, 2025. In response, deputies returned to the hotel and detained Mendoza-Gonzalez and his companion for questioning. A search revealed that Mendoza-Gonzalez was carrying a handgun and ammunition at the time of his detention.
The investigation was joined by Austin Police Homicide Detectives, who took custody of the vehicle for further analysis. After a collaborative investigation, Mendoza-Gonzalez was charged with murder and is now being held at the Kerr County Jail.
