Operatives from the Gombe State Police Command have apprehended two suspects involved in a motorcycle theft ring operating across state borders. In separate operations within Akko Local Government Area, the police recovered three stolen motorcycles.

DSP Buhari Abdullahi, the police spokesperson, confirmed that the arrests came after a tip-off from a vigilant member of the public. On July 7, 2025, at around noon, officers from Operation Hattara, led by CSP Ali Madawaki, raided a suspected hideout in Tudun Hayin Kwarai, Misau, Akko LGA, where they detained two individuals.

The suspects, identified as Misba’u Adamu, 25, from Bauchi State’s Alkaleri LGA, and Adamu Ibrahim, 28, from Kano State’s Garko LGA, confessed to breaking into the residence of Mohammed Usman in Hayin Kwarin-Misau on July 6 at about 4:00 am. They admitted to stealing two motorcycles — a Qlink Cassie (registration ABC 484 WN) and a Hero Hunter (registration GME 36 QL) — valued at approximately ₦1.8 million.

The stolen motorcycles were recovered from the premises of a person named Babangida, where the suspects had hidden them. Both men remain in police custody as the investigation continues to identify the gang leader and other accomplices still at large. They are set to be arraigned in court once investigations conclude.

In a related incident, DSP Abdullahi reported that another stolen motorcycle was found during a routine patrol in Wuro Birji, Akko LGA. Around 1:00 am on the same day, a patrol team spotted an individual riding a black Jincheng Kasea motorcycle (registration DKU 099 UK). The suspect fled, abandoning the bike, which is now secured by the police. Efforts are ongoing to identify both the suspect and the rightful owner.

DSP Abdullahi urged the public to continue sharing valuable information to help combat crime in Gombe State. The police remain dedicated to protecting lives and property and called on residents to stay vigilant and report any suspicious activities promptly.
