Golantara Police recently arrested two individuals, Ranjan Sahu and Murali Sethi, in connection with a series of thefts in the region.
According to reports, the two accused, both from Patrapur Bazar Sahi, had been employed as supervisors in a company in Bengaluru. After returning to their village, they bought a KTM bike with a loan. However, they soon struggled to repay the debt.
In a desperate bid to clear the loan, the pair resorted to illegal activities, stealing valuables, particularly gold ornaments, from unsuspecting commuters. They would then sell the stolen goods to Gobardhan Nayak, a youth from Buratal village. Nayak was arrested alongside them on Tuesday for his involvement in the theft ring.
Authorities have confirmed that Ranjan Sahu and Murali Sethi were implicated in at least five separate theft cases. Both men are now in jail awaiting further proceedings.
