Golaghat Police on Friday arrested two drug peddlers, Faridur Rahman (Mamu) from Furkating Tiruwal and Diganta Borgohain from Jonaki Nagar, Golaghat, recovering drugs valued at around Rs 3 crore.
The duo was intercepted while transporting the contraband in a Bolero vehicle (AS 01 AW 9192) from Kohima to Furkating. Police discovered the drugs cleverly concealed inside 45 soap boxes hidden within the vehicle’s fuel tank.
The operation, led by Additional Superintendent of Police John Das, was based on a crucial tip-off. Faridur Rahman is believed to have longstanding involvement in the illegal drug trade.
Additionally, police in Tinsukia arrested Prafulla Dutta, another drug peddler linked to the same case. Investigations are ongoing, with Rahman being interrogated at Furkating police station to uncover the wider network behind the trafficking.
