The Goa Crime Branch arrested Yugal Kishor Singh from Himachal Pradesh on Friday evening for possessing charas worth Rs 21.98 lakh in Arambol village, North Goa. This marks the biggest charas recovery by Goa Police in the last year, according to Director General of Police Alok Kumar.
A police spokesperson revealed that during the raid in Arambol, authorities seized 2.198 kilograms of charas, comprising 239 pieces. The accused was arrested under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
DGP Alok Kumar stated that Singh, originally from Kullu, Himachal Pradesh, had brought the narcotic substance from his home state and was attempting to sell it in Goa. This is the fourth case of drug-related arrests conducted by the Crime Branch in January 2025. The total value of drugs seized by the Crime Branch so far amounts to Rs 25 lakh, with four peddlers arrested in connection with the ongoing efforts to curb the drug trade in the state.
