Goa police have arrested a father-son duo, Sattya and Thabir, in connection with the murder of their relative, 47-year-old Droupada Naik, a native of Odisha. The brutal attack occurred at an under-construction site in Parra, involving a severe assault described as bobbitising.
According to Mapusa police, the motive behind the killing is still unclear, but preliminary investigations suggest it arose from a dispute. Both accused, daily wage workers from Odisha residing in Calangute, were employed alongside another person at the construction site on July 5. When one failed to report for work, Sattya and Thabir brought Droupada to the site on July 6.
The contractor, upon arriving at the site Monday afternoon, found the trio intoxicated and paid them for half a day’s work before asking them to leave. Later that evening, supervisor Vijay Naik heard noises coming from a temporary hut and, upon investigating, was charged by both accused. He discovered Droupada lying injured on the floor and promptly contacted the contractor.
The contractor arrived to find the accused fleeing. Police soon conducted a combing operation and apprehended Sattya and Thabir hiding in a nearby paddy field. The accused are now in custody for the violent assault that fatally injured their nephew.
