Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant today announced that he has ordered a thorough investigation into the case involving a caretaker woman in Margao. He also revealed that the government is considering a human trafficking angle in the matter. However, Sawant denied allegations of any delay in registering the complaint, stating, “She (the victim) came on her own with the NGO and said that no rape has happened. It depends upon the victim after all.”
Sawant further added that he has reviewed the case and sought a detailed report. “I have reviewed the matter and sought a detailed report,” said the CM, noting that the report will be made public once it is received.
Meanwhile, Shabrish Manjrekar, a 32-year-old Margao-based individual, has been arrested by the police. Manjrekar is accused of allegedly cheating the victim by impersonating a licensed contractor and promising to give her employment as a caretaker.
