GLASGOW, Ky. — A Glasgow man, 19-year-old Hurshel Landon Hammer, faces several charges related to credit card fraud and fleeing police.
Police responded shortly before noon on June 13 after a victim reported stolen debit and social security cards with fraudulent transactions from his bank account. One transaction was over $900 at Rural King.
Surveillance footage showed a male suspect leaving Rural King with a chainsaw and clothing, items purchased using the victim’s stolen card. Investigators later linked Hammer to the fraudulent transactions after responding to another fraudulent charge at an AutoZone in Glasgow.
Hammer was already lodged at Barren County Detention Center for a prior incident. Due to this and the new charges, Hammer faces:
Fraudulent use of a credit card between $1,000 and $10,000
First-degree fleeing or evading police (motor vehicle and on foot)
Disregarding a stop sign
Operating a vehicle under the influence of alcohol (first offense)
Second-degree wanton endangerment (police officer and other)
No operator’s moped license
Authorities continue to investigate.
