LINCOLN COUNTY, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) – A 19-year-old suspect, Giovanni Judel Camacho, has been arrested following a high-speed chase that ensued after a break-in at a convenience store in Denver, North Carolina.
On the night of the break-in, Lincoln County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a call at the N NC 16 Business Highway convenience store, which had been burglarized. Camacho, along with other suspects, fled the scene, initiating a high-speed pursuit. During the chase, the suspect reached speeds exceeding 100 mph.
The pursuit eventually ended when Camacho lost control of his vehicle near Chase Drive on Hwy 73, crashing into a wooded area. As deputies attempted to approach, Camacho made another attempt to flee, narrowly avoiding striking a deputy before re-entering the roadway. The chase continued for a short time before Camacho crashed again near Huncoat Hollow Lane.
While two of the suspects were apprehended, two others fled on foot. After further investigation, deputies linked the suspects to the earlier break-in.
Camacho, a resident of Maiden, faces multiple felony charges, including felony flee to elude, felony breaking and entering, and felony larceny after breaking and entering. He is being held on a $25,000 secured bond. The other suspects involved will be charged as juveniles.
The investigation remains ongoing.
