Tbilisi, Georgia — Prominent Georgian businessman Giorgi Ramishvili has been detained by authorities under Article 236 of the country’s Criminal Code, according to an announcement from the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

Article 236 pertains to the illegal acquisition, possession, carrying, transport, or sale of firearms, ammunition, explosives, or explosive devices.

Ramishvili, a notable entrepreneur and founder of several high-profile companies including Silk Road Group, Silknet, and Euronews Georgia, was taken into custody following an investigation into alleged weapons-related offenses.
