In a major crackdown on narcotics trafficking, security forces in Manipur arrested three suspected drug traffickers during a targeted operation in L. Kanan village, located under Behiang Police Station in Churachandpur district.
The accused have been identified as:
Ginmang Haokip (40) of Hengkot village
Seikholen (45) of Kipgen Veng
Lalzui Vaiphei (52) of Ngathal village
All are residents of Churachandpur district.
During the operation, officials recovered 269 soap cases filled with heroin, weighing approximately 2.95 kilograms, a seizure indicative of commercial-scale trafficking. Additionally, three mobile phones were confiscated, believed to have been used for coordinating the drug operations.
Police believe the heroin was being smuggled for distribution both within Manipur and across state lines, possibly linking the case to broader trafficking networks operating in the Northeast region. The arrested individuals are in police custody, and further investigation is underway to uncover the full extent of the supply chain.
Authorities continue to intensify anti-drug operations across Manipur, a state often targeted as a transit route for narcotics coming from across the border.
