CHEROKEE COUNTY, Ala. (WBMA) — A 56-year-old woman was arrested after a stolen vehicle was recovered in Cherokee County on Saturday.
The Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office identified the suspect as Ginger Mills Duckworth, of Centre, Alabama.
Deputies responded to a report of a suspicious vehicle at the intersection of County Road 63 and County Road 540, only to find it abandoned. The vehicle’s owner arrived shortly afterward and informed authorities that the vehicle should have been at his residence.
Investigators determined the vehicle had been stolen and launched an inquiry that led to Duckworth’s identification and arrest. She was charged with theft of property in the first degree and taken to the Cherokee County Detention Center.
The stolen vehicle was subsequently returned to its rightful owner.
