Ogden, Utah – March 9, 2025 – Gilbert Flores, 50, was arrested by Ogden City Police officers on Saturday afternoon after he was found driving a vehicle previously reported stolen.
At approximately 1:36 p.m., officers stopped Flores while he was driving east in the 100 block of 18th Street. According to the arrest affidavit, the vehicle had been confirmed as stolen through the National Crime Information Center (NCIC).
During a post-Miranda interview, Flores admitted to taking the vehicle after finding it with an abandoned vehicle warning on it. The vehicle was initially stolen from Riverdale. Police contacted Riverdale officers, who confirmed that the victim of the theft supported the charges against Flores.
Further investigation revealed that Flores was driving with a revoked license and had failed to comply with a court-ordered ignition interlock device requirement. An ignition interlock device is installed in vehicles for individuals with DUI convictions, preventing the car from starting if alcohol is detected during a breath test. Flores was aware of the requirement but did not have the device in the vehicle.
In addition to the stolen vehicle charge, the officer’s statement revealed that the current offense was a felony, as Flores was on probation or parole for a previous felony. His most recent charges stemmed from an October arrest for alleged illegal drug possession.
As a result of these findings, Flores was detained and held without bail at the Weber County Jail. Authorities are continuing to investigate his involvement in other criminal activities.
The Ogden City Police Department has urged the public to stay vigilant and report any suspicious activity. The investigation is ongoing.
