PUEBLO COUNTY, Colo. — Gilbert Ballejos, 32, was arrested early Monday morning, March 31, on a parole violation for homicide after deputies from the Pueblo County Sheriff’s Office (PCSO) recognized him at an adult gaming establishment.
According to PCSO, the arrest was made possible thanks to the FBI’s Southern Colorado Safe Streets Task Force, which provided deputies with a photo of Ballejos from its Most Wanted list. This allowed deputies to identify the suspect during a routine patrol at the Battle Ground Skilled Gaming business on Santa Fe Drive in Blende.
Ballejos was wanted for a parole violation related to second-degree homicide and possession of a weapon by a previous offender. While conducting a search, officers discovered over 9 grams of suspected methamphetamine in his pocket, leading to new charges of drug possession.
Ballejos was arrested without incident and booked into the Pueblo County Jail. PCSO praised the deputies for their vigilance and effective response, with Pueblo County Sheriff David J. Lucero stating, “This arrest is a great example of the importance of awareness and teamwork in keeping our streets safe.”
Ballejos’ arrest comes as part of ongoing efforts to apprehend dangerous criminals and enhance community safety.
