Ghulam Mohammad Lone, Shakir Sadiq Bhat Arrested in Sopore Theft

Police recover stolen goods and cash from two cases

Police in Sopore have solved two separate theft cases by apprehending the accused and recovering stolen property.

In the first case, a complaint was filed by Abdul Rashid Mir, owner of Al-Fajar Departmental Store, regarding stolen goods from his shop. An FIR (No. 60/2025) under Sections 305 and 331(4) of the BNS was registered at Police Station Bomai.

Following investigation, police traced and arrested Ghulam Mohammad Lone, son of Abdul Jabbar Lone of Yahama Handwara, on November 29. He confessed and revealed that the stolen items were hidden in an orchard near the river in Nathipora, from where police recovered the property.

In the second case, a complaint was filed by Ghulam Mohammad Kanjwal, owner of a bakery in Sir Syed Abad, Sopore, reporting theft of cash. An FIR (No. 268/2025) under Sections 305 and 331(3) of the BNS was registered at Police Post Bus Stand.

Police arrested Shakir Sadiq Bhat within 12 hours near SDH Sopore. During questioning, he disclosed the location of the stolen cash, which was subsequently recovered.

Officials said further investigation in both cases is ongoing to ensure no accomplices remain at large.
