Uttar Pradesh Police in Ghaziabad arrested three men—Rinku, Ajay, and Shubham—for allegedly blackmailing individuals using a gay dating app. The accused reportedly lured victims into sexual activity, secretly recorded them, and extorted money. Two other suspects are still at large.
The case came to light after a victim filed a complaint stating he was contacted on Grindr and invited to a flat. Once intimate, others secretly recorded the act and demanded Rs1.40 lakh, which the victim transferred.
Acting on a tip-off, police set up a checkpost near NDRF Road and apprehended the accused. Assistant Commissioner of Police Swatantra Kumar Singh confirmed the arrests, revealing Rinku as the gang’s mastermind and Ajay as the one who lured the victim.
Authorities recovered three mobile phones, Rs10,000 cash, and three ID cards from Rinku claiming he was an advocate; verification is ongoing.
The rented flat’s owner reported that the accused had moved in on January 2. Police suspect multiple victims may have fallen prey to their scheme. The arrested men reportedly confessed to extorting others, and investigations are ongoing to track the remaining suspects.
