Ghaziabad Man Anil Katiyal Poses as Retired IPS Officer Arrested

Anil Katiyal threatened police staff, pressuring them in fraud case

by Ananya Mehta

Anil Katiyal has been booked by Ghaziabad police for impersonating a retired IPS officer and attempting to influence police officers in a major fraud case. The incident began when Katiyal made threatening phone calls to Neeraj Rathore, the Public Relations Officer of DCP Trans Hindon, claiming to be an influential advisor from the Ministry of Home Affairs.

Katiyal reportedly demanded the release of Vinod Kapoor, who had been arrested earlier by the Indirapuram police in connection with a fraud case. He allegedly pressured police staff by leveraging the false identity of a retired IPS officer to sway the investigation.

Upon investigation, it was revealed that Katiyal had no legitimate connections with the police or the Ministry of Home Affairs. The police promptly charged him with multiple offenses related to impersonation and criminal intimidation.

The authorities are continuing to investigate the matter, with a focus on ensuring that similar fraudulent activities do not undermine the integrity of law enforcement processes. The case serves as a reminder of the serious legal consequences for individuals attempting to misuse official identities to influence legal proceedings.
