Ghana Nationals Precious and Mike Held in Delhi Drug Racket

Police Seize MDMA, Ecstasy Pills in Synthetic Drug Bust

by Ananya Mehta

In a major crackdown on synthetic drug trafficking, Delhi Police have arrested two Ghana nationals for allegedly running an organised drug syndicate supplying MDMA and ecstasy pills across the Delhi-NCR region. A significant quantity of psychotropic substances was seized during the operation, officials said on Sunday.

The accused have been identified as Precious alias Promise (26) and Geoffrey Boateng alias Mike (44). Police said Precious had entered India on a medical visa, while Boateng had earlier been arrested in a drug-related case.

According to officials, the arrests followed specific and credible intelligence received by the Crime Branch. During the operation, police recovered 270 grams of MDMA and 40 ecstasy pills weighing around 18 grams from the accused.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime) Vikram Singh said the duo operated a well-organised drug syndicate, supplying synthetic drugs to customers in Delhi-NCR. To avoid detection, they allegedly used fake mobile numbers and regularly deleted communication records.

Acting on a tip-off, a raiding team was deployed near Som Bazar Road, Mohan Garden. Around 11:50 pm, an individual matching the informer’s description arrived at the spot and was apprehended. He later disclosed his identity as Precious, police said.

Further investigation led to the arrest of Geoffrey Boateng alias Mike from Uttam Nagar on January 30, following which additional MDMA was recovered from his possession.

Interrogation revealed that Precious had come to India in 2022, but his visa had expired and he was staying illegally. He admitted to procuring MDMA and ecstasy pills from local associates in Uttam Nagar and selling them to Indian customers. Mike, who entered India in 2018 on a tourist visa, also overstayed and confessed to jointly running the drug network. He was previously arrested in an NDPS case in 2019.

Police officials said further investigation is underway, and more arrests and recoveries are likely as efforts continue to dismantle the entire supply chain.
