Gervonta Davis Arrested in Florida for Domestic Violence Incident
Miami Beach, FL – Boxing star Gervonta “Tank” Davis has been arrested on a domestic violence charge nearly a month after allegedly assaulting his ex-girlfriend outside her home on Father’s Day, June 15.
Davis, 30, was taken into custody Friday and booked into the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center in Miami-Dade County, where he is currently being held without bond, according to jail records.
According to the arrest report, the incident began when Davis arrived at his former girlfriend’s home in Doral to pick up their two children. A verbal argument reportedly escalated into physical violence. Davis allegedly struck the woman in the back of the head and slapped her across the face, causing a minor cut on her lip.
During the altercation, the woman sent a text message to her mother, stating she was being assaulted. Her mother, upon arriving at the scene, witnessed the confrontation and reportedly recorded video of Davis throwing a small box at the victim.
Police say Davis refused to sign a Miranda warning form during questioning and has been charged with battery causing bodily harm.
This is not Davis’s first legal issue. He was previously arrested in 2020 for a domestic incident caught on video during a basketball game in Coral Gables, and again in 2022 for a separate domestic dispute, which was later dropped. In 2023, Davis pleaded guilty in a hit-and-run case in Baltimore and served 90 days of house arrest.
Davis (30-0-1, 28 KOs) had reportedly been negotiating a rematch with Lamont Roach Jr following their controversial draw in March. The fight was expected to take place on August 16 in Las Vegas, but this latest arrest has cast uncertainty over those plans.
