Gerson Robles Charged in $5K Uniondale Rental Scam

Robles Took Deposit on Property He Didn’t Own, Police Say

by Amelia Crawford

UNIONDALE, NY — A Uniondale man has been arrested for grand larceny after allegedly collecting a $5,000 security deposit for a property he had no legal right to rent, according to Nassau County Police.

Detectives say Gerson Robles, 39, accepted the deposit from a 48-year-old man who signed a lease for a Uniondale property in November. But when the victim attempted to move in, he found the home was already occupied.

Investigators soon discovered that Robles had no legal ownership or authority to lease the property. Following a detailed investigation, he was taken into custody without incident.

Robles now faces a third-degree grand larceny charge and is expected to be arraigned soon.
