A 45-year-old German national, identified as Sebastian Hesler, was arrested by police in North Goa after they discovered drugs worth Rs23.95 lakh in his possession. The drugs included two kilograms of ganja, ketamine powder, ketamine liquid, and LSD blot sheets.
The arrest followed a late-night raid on Monday at his rented property in Small Vagator village, North Goa. Hesler had been staying in the area since November last year on a tourist visa.
According to Superintendent of Police (ANC) Tikam Singh Verma, the authorities had been monitoring Hesler for a week following an investigation related to another drug seizure. The intelligence gathered during the investigation led to the discovery of his drug stash.
In a related case, the Goa Anti-Narcotics Cell (ANC) had previously arrested Agni Sengupta, a West Bengal native, in connection with a significant MDMA and cocaine seizure. The investigation into that case led authorities to Hesler’s location.
During the raid, police seized drugs valued at Rs23.95 lakh, including 2 kg of ganja, ketamine powder, ketamine liquid, and LSD blot sheets. These drugs were allegedly being sold for commercial purposes. The ANC’s surveillance efforts were key in apprehending Hesler, and they continue their investigation.
This arrest is part of the ongoing efforts by Goa’s Anti-Narcotics Cell to combat the rising issue of narcotics in the region, signaling a strong commitment to keeping the state free from illicit drug trade activities.
