Gerald McKenzie Arrested for Punching Woman, Stealing Cell Phone in Macon

McKenzie faces multiple charges after altercation at Sprint Foods

A man was arrested on Wednesday after punching a woman in the head and stealing her cell phone, according to the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office.

The incident occurred on March 26 at Sprint Foods, located at 3198 Mercer University Drive in Macon. Authorities said the suspect, identified as Gerald Anthony McKenzie, followed his girlfriend after she left his home following an argument. The suspect entered the store behind her, punched her in the head, and took her cell phone. The woman ran to another nearby store and called 911 for help.

McKenzie fled on foot but was tased and apprehended after a brief chase. He was taken into custody without further incident.

McKenzie is facing charges of willful obstruction of a law enforcement officer, making a false report of a crime, and simple battery.
