GALESBURG, Ill. — A Galesburg man has been arrested in connection with the April homicide of a 49-year-old woman, according to the Galesburg Police Department.
On April 15, officers were dispatched to the 100 block of North Prairie Street in response to a report of an unresponsive person. The woman was pronounced dead at the scene. Following an investigation, authorities identified Gerald Fry Jr., 56, as the primary suspect.
An arrest warrant was issued, charging Fry with first-degree murder. On the morning of June 4 at approximately 8:30 a.m., police took Fry into custody. He was subsequently booked into the Knox County Jail, where he remains incarcerated.
The Illinois State Police Crime Scene Unit and the Knox County State’s Attorney’s Office assisted in the investigation, which is still ongoing, according to officials.
